An online club operates exactly like a traditional club, but they exclusively meet virtually via platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams instead of in person. Online clubs pay the same membership dues and follow the same education program as clubs that meet in person.

Can I join an online club outside of my country?Back to Top
Yes. Online clubs are open globally, as long as they are not listed as “Restricted” or as an Advanced Toastmasters club in the Find a Club tool.

Does Toastmasters International provide equipment or cover costs for online clubs?Back to Top
No. Toastmasters International does not supply equipment, technology, or online meeting platforms for clubs, nor does it manage club finances or assets. Each club is responsible for selecting and funding its own online platform and any necessary equipment. Individual members are expected to provide their own technology (such as a computer, microphone, or internet access) at their own expense. Any costs associated with operating an online club are determined and covered by the club and its members, in accordance with Toastmasters policies.

How are online clubs aligned?Back to Top
Online clubs are considered Undistricted unless the club decides to join a District. We recommend that online clubs select a District in order to receive District-level support and participate in District-sponsored events.

Do online clubs participate in the Distinguished Club Program (DCP)?Back to Top
Yes. However, clubs that are Undistricted (online, hybrid, or in-person) earn recognition by achieving one fewer goal than clubs that belong to a District: Four (4) goals for Distinguished, six (6) goals for Select Distinguished, eight (8) goals for President's Distinguished, and nine (9) goals for Smedley Distinguished.

Do online clubs participate in Club Officer Training?Back to Top
Yes. Online clubs are encouraged to participate with their selected District. If the club is Undistricted, they may want to contact local Districts for permission to attend their training.

Are proxies handled differently for online clubs?Back to Top
No. Proxies at the club level, District level, and at the Annual Business Meeting at International Convention are handled the same for online clubs as for traditional clubs.

Can a member of an online club be a judge at in-person speech contest?Back to Top
Yes. However, judges must be physically present at the competition.
